The French Alps 2030 aims to establish a connection between the northern and southern regions of the French Alps, transforming them into a hub for winter sports to maximize social and economic benefits for local populations.

This edition of the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games will be the first to fully integrate the principles of the Olympic Agenda 2020 and 2020+5, as well as the new sustainability requirements set forth by the IOC’s Olympic Host Contract.

32 Years After Albertville

While Paris hosts the Olympic Games this week for the second time in its history, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur regions are set to share the Winter Games events in six years.

“For the first time, it’s not a city but an entire mountain range that has been designated to host the Winter Olympic Games,” comments Jean-Luc Boch, President of the National Association of Mayors of Mountain Resorts.

The French Alps have previously hosted the Winter Olympics three times in the past century: in Chamonix (Haute-Savoie) in 1924, Grenoble (Isère) in 1968, and Albertville (Savoie) in 1992.
